We understand that the experience of bringing new life into the world is as diverse as the families we support. As your Certified and insured Birth Doula, we offer informational support by providing childbirth education prenatally, emotional and physical support during labor and delivery. From soothing massage and relaxation techniques to equipping you to advocate for your birth preferences, our goal is to help you achieve the birth experience of your dreams. We currently serve Wilmington and the surrounding areas.

For those wanting an intimate birthing experience, I offer dedicated home birth services with your chosen midwife. With over a decade of experience, I am equipped to guide you and your partner through any situation that may arise during delivery while providing emotional support throughout the process.

Often, moms do all this prep work for the birth but then they bring home baby and realize that the transition to parenthood was nothing like she anticipated. It can be challenging whether this is your first baby or you have other children at home (and it’s even more difficult to rest). This is why I offer comprehensive postpartum support. My first priority is monitoring your physical and mental recovery. During a day shift, I will support that by sitting with you and listening. Together we can process your birth experience or how life looks different than it did before. While you take some time to yourself or with your baby, I can help with small household tasks like laundry or dishes, and even hold your baby while you shower! During an overnight shift, I will take complete care of your little one while the household sleeps peacefully. I can provide information on feeding, sleeping, nutrition and recovery after cesarean. I also offer extensive local resources and referrals in the community. I’m here to help you navigate this new chapter with confidence, providing a safe space for those suffering from postpartum disorders.

At Essential Birth Company, we have the unique privilege to offer Telehealth appointments with a board certified lactation consultant of over 30 years. In addition, the doula can educate you on a pumping schedule, supporting your supply while you return to work and more.  Breastfeeding is a deeply personal decision and it takes some time and patience from both mom and baby to get into a good routine. We are here to make this journey a successful one.

If you choose, Essential Birth Company provides specialized services that utilize the healing properties of essential oils to foster relaxation and aid in pain management. Grounded in evidence-based practices, our approach aims to offer a holistic and compassionate experience during pregnancy, labor, and beyond. Essential oils bring a variety of natural advantages to your birth journey. We teach relaxation techniques enriched by essential oils, such as aromatherapy, inhalation, and topical applications, which work together to create a serene environment that lowers stress and nurtures emotional health. Our evidence-based methods incorporate essential oils known for their pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory qualities, guiding you in their use to alleviate discomfort during labor and promote recovery in the postpartum period. 

We understand intimately how challenging it is to take care of your nutritional needs while resting, healing, and feeding your newborn baby. That’s why we’ve created a postpartum meal service that includes picking up your online pre-paid order and meal prep assistance in your own home. I am passionate about using wholesome ingredients that are not only comforting and tasty but also nourish and promote healing and lactation when applicable.
